Blaze Woman

This piece was one of the practice pieces I did in my life drawing classes, where we studied the anatomy and form of both male and female humans of varing shapes and types. It was also an opportunity for me to experiment with tone and colour to create mood and drama.

The piece was painted in Acrylic on A3 mixed media paper

Blue Lady

This piece was the first life modle I painted in my life drawing classes. I choose to paint the modle in cold blue reflecting what I thought to be her mood at the time, and to create a sence of drama and intrest in the piece. It is partially inspired by Paplo Picaso's Blue Period pieces to this effect.

The piece was painted in Acrylic paint on A3 mixed media paper.

Green Giant

This piece was one of the practice pieces I did in my life drawing classes. I choose to paint this modle in Pea Green as an experiment, playing with different colour combinations like the blue and purpleish background behind the pea green creating a strong vibrant contrast. I wanted to see how well i could translate the colour and shades in the real world into ones that are interily different yet have the same shades, shadows and light. Over time I learnt how shadows are cast on and around the body from the direction the light is shining, and also how visually the varing brightness of light effects the deepness of those shadows. And how it is those shadows contrasted with the light that makes an object or in this case a person appear to be three dimentional.

The painting was done in Acylic paint on A3 mixed media paper.

Hot Man

Woman in Black

This piece was one of the practice pieces I did in my life drawing classes. At this time we were studying portraiture and diverting from paint and exploring a new medium charcoal. Charcoal is an intresting medium, it allows of more texture to be created in a piece though the different methods and volumes it can be applied. It also allows you to smudge it, creating shading and subtle natual shadows on a face before it is fixed.

This piece was created on A3 mixed media paper and drawn in Charcoal.
