Aber Pier Exterior

This is painting I did for my Painting module at Aberystwyth university. It is the entrance to the pier entertainment complex in Aberythwyth. I choose to colour the pier a cool blue contrasted with a warm orange and red sky to capture the mood and atmosphere I felt at the time being outside the entrance. I thought that it might make an interesting contrast and embellish the feeling of the sleepy warmth of the sun approaching sunset. The pier was fairly shaded at the time, so I choose a cool blue to emphasise the pleasant coolness of the shade.

This is a painting I did for my Painting module at Aberystwyth university. It is the opening stairway to the university. This piece was an experimental piece. I choose to be inventive with the colouration to try and create a unique mood and atmosphere, to in my eyes a mundane place. It was an opportunity to experiment with colour and composition seeing what colours contrast and blend well together, and the overall tone one can create with a mixture of different colours

This is a painting I did for my Painting module at Aberystwyth university. It is the Aberytwyth beach. This piece was an experimental piece. Like with my previous paintings, I choose to be inventive with the colouration to try and create a unique mood and atmosphere.

This is a painting I did for my painting module at Aberystwyth university. It is the inside of the pier at Aberytwyth in the pub and pool section. This piece was painted in the actual colours of the pub and pool section and reflects it’s relaxing and warming spirit.

Pier Side

This is a painting I did for my painting module at Aberystwyth university. It is outside the pier looking at it from the side on the promenade at sunset. This piece was painted in the actual colours of the scene. In this piece I choose to experiment slightly with perspective creating the actual view from my eyes, instead of from a photograph, I was on location when I sketched and painted the piece. I was sitting down on a nearby bench at the time, which is why the perspective might seem slightly distorted, sometimes your eyes also have a strange way of altering your own personal perspective. I think that it makes the piece quite interesting and unique.

This is a painting I did for my painting module at Aberystwyth university. For this painting I was asked to paint this easel and make it look scary. I don’t know if it’s scary but is dark and perhaps eery creating a different mood from my other pieces.

This is a painting I did of Knaresborough Low Bridge. A pretty scene outside mother shiptons inn on the other side of the bridge. The landscape is decorated with trees and flora layed and draped along the edges of the river bed.
